Yes, that's a word! Because it fits and because I said so. Now. Can anyone stay indifferent to such flowers, reaching up towards the heavens with all their might, offerering their sweet pollen for nature to take? I didn't think so.

I could photograph them all day... such willing happy little subjects they are, basking in the sun and swaying in the breeze. Such a hard life they have, these flowers! ;-)

I like how these tiny beauties make a wreath all on their own... the tree was covered with thousands of red kisses, does anyone know what kind of flower they are?
Mother Nature has a very good hand with her paintbrush, doesn't she?

If you like flowers, this is your week!
Here is the first of a series on the magnificience of springtime treasures, those sudden yet elusive jewels in Mother Nature's crown. All pictures were taken during a 30 minute meandering walk along a few neighboring streets - one could almost forget there is so much cement around...
PS: Yes, the flowers really are this bright and colorful - these are untouched photos.

Sunset on my street's church steeple as seen from my balcony, over rooftops... the colors were so pretty I just had to grab my camera and capture the moment.

I hope you enjoyed this week's photo theme; here is the last snapshot in the Guest Photographer series... isn't it a beaut? Back to Technodoll's quirky collection as of tomorrow, if she can manage to get her photo mojo back!

Yes, the water really is this blue (I asked)! Nice to see some parts of the world are not yet marred by humans...

Australia is famous for its surfer-friendly waves, just ask this daredevil if he enjoys the ride! Um, yes I have heard there are sharks lurking about but hey, it's all part of the thrill... Thank you A for yet another delightful photo!

Since I'm nowhere near any beaches or the sea for some time still (sigh), this week I have a special treat for you: an Australian guest photographer (my ex, actually!), who has graciously accepted to "lend" me a few photos for the snapshots blog.
These were taken on the Sunshine Coast so kick back and enjoy. In the meantime keep visiting for some more stunning visuals! Back to the normal program by the weekend, if I can get my camera excited about something, anything, again...

A last English photo for a bit... Here is interesting some architecture that caught my eye whilst walking towards the sea with Vegas. What a warm and gorgeous day it was!

I love how the beach boardwalk curves and curls along the rocky pebble shore, even if it was a cold wet January stroll it was quite an interesting study in grey.

I still can't believe the grass was this green in early January... must be some kind of holy ground for nature to lay herself upon in such glory, thumbing her nose up at the calendar.

Just one of many quirks you will find in the Brighton Laines... I hope to someday visit in the summer to see how tourists and foliage add to the character and charm of this place. Photo taken early January, 2008.

"You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn't flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn't have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there." Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1970)

Typical Brighton streets after a January rainfall, here we have a special treat - hop in for a fun ride! Or not. Who can trust those Mini stretch limos, anyways - hehe!

I love the colours and textures in this photo... such a simple spontaneous shot with a whimsical background, snapped on a crisp January day at dusk. I had so much fun that afternoon... thank you Vegas for giving me a glimpse into another world. I can't wait to go back someday with you. Photo subjects: two friends of ours.

My dad's awesome home-made spaghetti sauce... anchors me back every time to happy childhood summers, cold Coke in a glass with ice-cubes and feeling like the luckiest kid ever, even if it was only for a brief moment in time.

I realise the past few photos have been very "busy" and riotous... thought to inject a bit of calm coolness before the next batch of spring follies. I don't miss the snow, yet I do a little bit... there is something magical about the purity of a vast white field, not to mention happy doggies enjoying it to the max ;-)

I love springtime... see what it brings out to play? reeeeerr!

It all looks a bit whacked-out spooky without the lush green leaves... the trees are budding now, it will all be much more pleasant to look at in two weeks. Or so I hope!

The next few photos will be hosted by last Sunday's hippie tam-tams held on the side of the mountain which graces the middle of our beautiful city... the hot spring weather drew out the crowds like bees to fresh spring flowers. It was fun, it was colorful, it was... busy!

I quite like this alternate shot... "mmm which one will I have for lunch..." :-D

Spring just sprung upon us like a lion on a lamb... I had a lovely time drinking in the warm sun this weekend as did, apparently, half of the city! This week's theme will be the newly-green parks and the people enjoying them.

Little green ones coming to life, a safe haven in the middle of a giant crowd of people - yet nobody dared to trample these fragile ones. Nice to see humans still having respect for nature.
